I started this project in 2024. It involves my salvaging old comforters and other previously-owned garments, from thrift stores, or my own closet, and transforming them into somewhat “elaborate” clothing. The purpose of this project is to bring attention to the ever-increasing importance of homelessness and how oftentimes, a homeless person’s only shelter is a comforter or sleeping bag. This project points to the lack of dignity, let alone comfort, of not having one’s own home. In addition, this project serves as commentary on overconsumption, fast-fashion, environmental protection, and how these issues are interrelated and their effect on all of us, as part of one human fabric.
