Hairloom is a series of textile works, started in early 2020, which features matted, felted yarn as hair, over silkscreened portraits of women. the pieces are finished with hand-crocheted "lace", so as to resemble heirloom doilies, hand fans, or tea towels. These pieces comment on the lived experience of Black and Brown women and the very social, cultural, and even political aspects assigned to our natural hair.
